Congratulations Manor Gardens Primary School!
The Kids’ Lit Quiz is an annual literature competition for children aged 10 to 13. It puts readers onto the stage and lets them compete for fantastic prizes. The quiz has heats in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Canada, USA and China. Winning teams qualify for national and world finals. The Kids’ Lit Quiz is not for profit and is run entirely by volunteers.

Learning Channel congratulates the team from Manor Gardens Primary School on winning this prestigious National Literary Competition. In February this year, a team of four 12 year olds from Manor Gardens Primary School beat all of the top schools in the country to win the SA National Final of the Kids Lit Quiz, an incredibly tough international competition that tests the literary knowledge of children aged 10 – 13.
Teams from USA, UK, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand will compete for the World Title on July 19th in Hamilton in what will be a spectacular and high profiled event. Accompanying the teams of four children will be the school librarians from each country that contributed to making their school team the best in their respective countries.
The South African team that won this year is a government school, marking the first time a government school has won this National Final! The school is realizing though how difficult it is to raise funds for a National Team to compete in a World Final that nobody has heard of.
This win has sparked much interest in the competition amongst other schools and as resulted in the establishment of book clubs and other such initiatives.
